Created by Bgirl Mantis in 2019, Bgirl Herstory is a project to document the stories of old school and new school bgirl generations from the limelight to the underground. 

Mantis started breaking in 2007. She had many teachers including Lethal from the LES, BoogieMonster of NON crew, and Merlin from Foot Clan. In 2011 she met Rokafella and Kwikstep at a youth center called the door, and has been down with Full Circle ever since. 

Bgirl Herstory started as an idea around 2010. Mantis had always been interested in Breaking History but she hadn't heard of many Bgirls from the earlier generations and couldn't find much information about them. There also weren't many interviews or information on Bgirls that were easy to find, so Mantis hoped to create a resource for her generation and the generations after to learn their break herstory and find inspiration from Bgirl pioneers and practitioners past, present and future.
